Move over Cro Cop, It's The Hybrid's time to shine.
With UFC 128 Coming up, I will be doing a preview of all of the fights on the main card leading up to Saturday. First up is Mirko Cro Cop vs. Brendan Schaub. To the casual fight fan this would seem like a no-brainer, Cro Cop is gonna knock him out. Right leg hospital, left leg cemetary isn't quite as intimidating as it used to be. Cro Cop hasn't had much luck since coming over to UFC. His record is the octogon is 4-4, which in itself isn't very impressive. But when u see his victories are against Eddie Sanchez, Mostapha Al-Turk, Anthony Perosh and Patrick Barry, while he has been beaten by by Gabriel Gonzaga, Cheick Kongo, Junior dos Santos, and Frank Mir, Cro Cop's record is that much more dissappointing. While Cro Cop seems to be on the downslope of his career, Schaub is on the rise. Since losing to Roy Nelson in the TUF Finale, The Hybrid has rattled off 3 straight wins. The only common opponent between the two has been Gabriel Gonzaga, who knocked Cro Cop out highlight reel style, and was defeated via unanimous decision. Vegas has Schaub a (-275) favorite and I would have to agree, Cro Cop's chin has been failing him as of late, and Schaub has good power. Out with the old and in with new, my pick is Schaub by second round KO.
